Alright, let's just get this out of the way: Seraphina is one of my favorite books I've read this year. Hands down, without a doubt, straight-up adored it. Dragons that can take human form! Such an interesting idea. Even though it took me a bit to get used to the idea, I really liked it once I did. I also really liked the musical aspects of this - and the garden of characters in Seraphina's head. This is not like any other dragon story I've read before.

For forty years there has been peace between the dragons and the humans in Goredd thanks to a treaty negotiated by the Queen and the leader of the dragons, Ardmagar Comonot. As the fortieth anniversary of the treaty approaches, Ardmagar Comonot plans to visit Goredd to celebrate. However, dragon/human animosity is on the rise after the prince is murdered in a manner that suggests that the culprit was a dragon. Seraphina has a secret, she is the product of a marriage between a dragon and a human.
