This book felt a bit awkwardly translated. I don't know for sure whether that's the translator or just Murakami's style, especially since this is one of his earlier works and maybe his writing was just a little more awkward at the time this book was written. Still, I was absorbed by this characteristically weird and surreal tale. I definitely recommend reading the two earlier "Rat" books if you can find a copy (they weren't originally published in English, but have been released more recently --

I Love Murakami and even though i haven't read the other two in this series I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. I will go back to read the series from the beginning but Murakami just writes superbly
