What Members Thought
Franny's section was definitely my favorite, but the entirety is really good, moving, thoughtful, and sometimes very funny. The writing is very affected, but that's kind of Salinger's charm. Once you get used to it, it flows naturally. All around just really good and well worth the read.

While the writing's obviously really good, I can't say I enjoyed this - except maybe the first chapter, Franny. I wondered where that was going but was disappointed when it only went to flop on the couch. I found Zooey pretentious, and if I'd been their mother I'd have abandoned those technically adult but still infantile children and that awful apartment - or better, kicked them out and sold the apartment.

Was a much better book than Catcher in the Rye. Loved the Franny part of the book, the Zooey part of the book was good at first, drifted in the middle and ended up on a very positive note. Overall a much better book by the same author, who probably would have done much better as a short story author in my personal opinion.
