Holy cow, this book was disturbing, messed with my head, and was impossible to put down!

Psychological, military, and political thriller with a bit of a coming-to-age mixed in with a disturbing prescience at what society was going to look like with advancing computer technology and the military industrial complex.

It is like the author in the 1980s was able to accurately predict video game training for military/police/children to make humans better killers, technology like drones to kill people

What is Ender's game? Even he doesn't find out until the very end, and this kept me intrigued and entertained. I read this for a book club, and never would have got past the "out of my genre" and (worse still) "youth stack" label otherwise, but I would have missed a good yarn.

NOTE: This review is for the audiobook version of this novel.

A compelling, innovative story from beginning to end. I found it enthralling and I couldn't wait for more. I spent the better part of a work day listening to this (while still working, thank you very much) and now that it is done I look forward to continuing my audiobook adventure!

I enjoyed this book far more than I expected to or planned on considering I am in no way a fan of scifi. The story was good in that it pulled me in and even when it started to lag I wanted to know the outcome bad enough to stick with it.

As a fairly big fan of books like this, I was surprised I had never heard of it. A friend gave me a copy and I devoured it. I am on the lookout for other books by this author for sure.

4 1/2 stars. The details of tactics and gaming strategies weren't too interesting, but over all I really liked the book. ...more

Ok, I admit it--he got me with the twist. I liked the parts with all the strategy, but this book is mostly full of horrifying psychology, and it was fascinating. My only reaction to the last 20 pages, though, is a resounding "What the WHAT?" ...more
