I loved this book. It made me FEEL in a way a book hasn't in a long time and I had long conversations about it with multiple people because I couldn't stop thinking about it. It had so much heart but managed to leave me with so many questions and so much sadness and loss but also hope and lovely nostalgia. It is a terrific book and there are few people I couldn't recommend it to, but I can't think of one just now...

This is one of my favorites books, but I understand why some would not like it. It’s quite disturbing, and very thought provoking. There is a blanket of melancholy which seems to cover you while reading it. This book can absolutely transport you to a different world, but not a world you’d want to reside in.
I read this book without any prior knowledge to the plot, which I think was essential to my enjoyment. If I had known the major spoiler before going in I highly doubt I would have loved it as ...more

I don't even know how to write a review for this novel without ruining it for the next reader on some level. I went into it completely blind and I think this made the story that much more interesting. There was an element of mystery there, which held my interest.
The story really made me think, and reflect on my personal feelings and beliefs.
I definitely recommend this book, so I’m going to stop my review or lack of one here so you can read it for yourself and enjoy it to its fullest.

I had a very hard time getting through this book. The writing style annoyed me and I really didn't find the characters that engaging either. I debated several times abandoning it and I wish I had.

I think that the description really does not give the reader a good idea of what they are going to read. It was was more science-fiction than I thought it would be. It has a very conversational style to it that made it easy to read. It was not exciting and I think it really did not have any big twists, but the plot rather built up gradually as you read it. It was sad in many ways, but I enjoyed it.

A really interesting story with wonderful main characters. The sense of menace and inevitability that pervades the book is skillfully done, as well as the urge to try and change the future which is sure to come.

I couldn't finish this book. Way too wordy, too A.D.D., and too bizarre. Is it a sci-fi novel or not? What the heck is going on? Why does the narrator keep jumping around? I was hoping to read it in advance of the movie coming out with Keira Knightley (whom I like), but I just couldn't do it. I flipped ahead to several pages and came across a love scene that, on its face, was fine, but the thought of reading the full scene semi-repulsed me. This book ruined my day yesterday. So I am kicking it t

This is the story of three childhood friends, Ruth, Kathy and Tommy. As the author tells their story, the reader soon discovers that things are not what they seem. The beginning of the book was a little slow and confusing, but that is part of the beauty of Ishiguro's style. As he slowly reveals the truth, the reader is drawn into the story and by the end I couldn't but the book down. I liked how the characters seemed real and how the author makes you think about some big ethical questions.

I read through this book fairly quickly, but was never able to get fully involved or invested in the characters or the story. It kept feeling like a big bombshell was about to drop, and when it did, it was not very exciting, because it was pretty obvious from the beginning what was going on. I think I would've preferred a book about the complicated relationships and dynamics occurring at a British boarding school over the overwrought "science fiction" twist of this story.
