SPOILERS HERE!

“Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself.”

With her opening sentence Woolf tells us about privilege. “For Lucy had her work cut out for her.” Mrs. Dalloway’s party was to take place that evening and Lucy, along with the rest of the help, would be slammed. An amazing book elicits great discussion and CR read Cunningham's The Hours while CC read Mrs. Dalloway and the two together made for added depth and breadth. What a great experience. ...more

i study literature as a hobby. i just finished a great bio of virginia by louise de salvo. i consider this type of reading as a form of homework for me. i know i am supposed to at least appreciate this ,great book, and i did recognize the beauty of her writing style. the only thing i enjoy about, stoc, stream of consciousness writing is how much i enjoy linear writing after i finish with it. i will read other of her works and enjoy parts of them.

I like reading Virginia Woolf far better than I like reading her books. Loved the film, tho.
