Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer.

I've been familiar with this story for decades now (after seeing the Star-studded Sidney Lumet film version) As usual, the book far exceeds the movie despite the number of Hollywood luminaries brought to it.

The snow bound Orient Express train is the perfect setting for Poirot's talents to shine and the opulence of the setting just adds to the story's appeal.
