I've never read it before, nor have I seen any of the movies (except for Young Frankenstein which I think was nowhere near this story).
The 1818 language slows the reader down, but doesn't take long to get acclimated. I got confused at the end of the book because I had forgotten that the book starts with a ship's captain's letters to his sister. I had to use the search aspect of the e-book to remind me of what happened a mere 114 pages previously.
A lot of new vocabulary.
