What Members Thought

Part of my ongoing project to dust off the classics, and this one stands up surprisingly well. The themes Shelley wrestles with here still feel fresh despite the fact that the story's almost 200 years old. I think I'll view that as her being unnaturally prescient than the more depressing idea that we've gotten a big lot of nowhere on those topics in 2 centuries.

The book is totally different than the image we've gotten from movies and television. I highly recommend reading it just to understand how different it is. Mary Shelley must have been one in a million. Now I want to know more about her and find out where this tragic tale came from.
