I can only name one series that I have read out of hundreds that has more angst than this set of books; and that is saying something considering I am a sucker for drama and that is the majority of what I read. I am emotionally spent. Caleb and Olivia's story is heartbreakingly beautiful, a chaotic mess, pure perfection. This will forever be one of my favorite stories.

Thief is completely and without doubt a thief...of my heart. My heart has been trampled, stopped, restarted, and stolen by Caleb and Olivia. The emotional toll this book has taken on me is exhausting. To say that I loved this book is a total understatement, and I dare say this is my favorite in the Love Me with Lies Series.
I have always been a fan of Caleb and Olivia together, but they are so dysfunctional and self-destructive when it came to their love, sabotaging any hope for a future together Thief is completely and without doubt a thief...of my heart. My heart has been trampled, stopped, restarted, and stolen by Caleb and Olivia. The emotional toll this book has taken on me is exhausting. To say that I loved this book is a total understatement, and I dare say this is my favorite in the Love Me with Lies Series.
I have always been a fan of Caleb and Olivia together, but they are so dysfunctional and self-destructive when it came to their love, sabotaging any hope for a future together. Now spanning ten years since they first fell in love and while both have followed different paths with other people, they never freed each other from the hold they held on each others' hearts. Both have changed in their outlook on life and love; they've matured and try to learn from their mistakes. To one, their love is toxic; to the other, their love is the breath of life.

We see a vulnerable Olivia who finds it easier to let her feelings be known while still trying to maintain control. Caleb has finally realized where he went wrong, and while he knows Olivia better than anyone else, he never really saw what she needed from him in the past....for him to fight for her. Their game of cat and mouse continues throughout most of the novel with Fate being the referee in this madcap romance.

Told primarily in Caleb's viewpoint with only a couple of chapters from Noah and Olivia, I was enthralled with the man who captured my heart in the first book. I gained so many answers to questions I never knew I had because like Olivia, I misunderstood so many of Caleb's actions in The Opportunist. My suspicions and curiosity of events in Dirty Red were validated with more answers. So many lies are resurrected along with the feelings from the past, and the guilty parties in keeping these two star-crossed lovers apart are not just Leah, Olivia, and Caleb. Several surprises are in store for the reader as the story of Caleb and Olivia unfolds.

I will say that I was slightly terrified going into this book. Would I be disappointed? Was Tarryn Fisher going to pull a fast one on me? Was she going to obliterate my hopes and dreams? She did not disappoint me no matter the outcome. Leah is still a witch. Caleb is still my dreamy-eyed Brit. Olivia is still the underdog I root to for. So many surprises and heart-ripping scenes affect me as my hope took permanent residence on a see-saw. Caleb's story, his voice, his determination, his hurts, his defeat....my soul cried for this man to get his just reward and have his happy ever after. His pain and fight are so palpable, because this story is so real. I screamed in my head on more than one occasion that this man has suffered enough tragedy and enough loss. Thief mimics life...the imperfections, the ups and downs, the love and loss. Everything about this series is real to me and touches me, but Thief is completely unrivaled in its perfection.

As with the previous book in the series, the chapters alternate between past and present, reminding the reader from where Olivia, Caleb, and Leah have come. The writing is flawless, the pacing is ideal, and the plot is gripping and achieves the perfect balance of tranquility and turbulence. In my opinion, this is Tarryn Fisher's best work to date, and there could not be a more perfect ending to this series and characters I will be mourning for a long while. In May 2012 in the wee hours of the morning, I wrote my first book review after reading Tarryn Fisher’s, The Opportunist.

I had been on Goodreads for over a year but had never felt compelled to write a review; I honestly didn’t think I was capable of reviewing a book properly (I may still not be). But I had never experienced a book like The Opportunist (to this day I still haven’t) and was bursting with emotion and the need to vomit. But I had never experienced a book like The Opportunist (to this day I still haven’t) and was bursting with emotion and the need to vomit. When I read the last line of the book, I truly felt like I was coming out of my skin; I was crushed, devastated and angry. I felt betrayed by the author – I had been sucker punched.

If I knew what I would face when starting this series I would have never opened the first book. I am a wimp; angst hurts my heart so I tend to avoid heart wrenching stories. All readers have deal breakers when choosing and enjoying their reads. Many try to avoid books involving love triangles, infidelity, too much angst, too much darkness or maybe too much sweet. To each his own. Personally, I can handle all of that but what absolutely KILLS a book for me is: time lost. Years of separation due to miscommunications/misunderstandings and/or stubbornness is my deal breaker. I hate it. I can’t handle it; the “what ifs” and “could have beens” shred me in the worst way. I avoid these types of storylines at all costs.

I should have hated this book and the two before it. I loved it. This series shouldn’t be on my favorite of all-time reads list. It is at the top. I shouldn’t have let the pain of these characters consume me for weeks after finishing their story. I couldn't help myself. I shouldn’t find such beauty in so much misery. I did. I shouldn’t hold Olivia & Caleb’s story so close to my heart that I am having a hard time letting go. I don’t think I ever will.

Maybe I am a masochist because even after the tears, pain and suffering, I loved Love Me with Lies. I will miss the burn I experienced while reading this series. I will miss being pushed to the limit and forced to face the unpredictability of a story like no other. I will miss the poetic cruelty of Caleb & Olivia’s heart breaking and passionate journey. I will absolutely miss Tarryn Fisher’s storytelling and devastatingly beautiful & truly clever writing.

For me, Thief was everything I didn’t want it to be but at the same time everything I hoped for. Perfection. The path to the epilogue couldn’t have unfolded any other way. To do so would go against everything Tarryn Fisher had built and would betray Olivia & Caleb’s true nature. I have to applaud Tarryn Fisher for maintaining the integrity of her characters throughout all three books. Olivia & Caleb stayed truly flawed in too many ways to count. However, even when it would have been so easy for Tarryn Fisher to cave and stop the rawness & suffering that lasted a decade, she let them be who they were. Olivia & Caleb evolved but didn’t morph rapidly before our eyes and it was refreshing (frustrating but also brave). The rewards were not thrown at the reader’s feet; it was a complicated and non-traditional love story.

This series will throw you for a loop, cut you, squeeze your heart, make you furious, leave you breathless, and yet keep your hope alive all the way through. Simply: It will wreck you…but I guarantee you’ll love every minute of it in the end.

So the Love me with Lies series comes to an end. It’s so sad and it was an amazing experience at the same time. I’m going miss you, Caleb and Olivia.
As for the third and final book of the series: I liked it, but unfortunately I did not love it. It breaks my heart to say this and it is probably because of my HUGE expectations, but Thief did not blow me away like TO.

So I have aged a bit after reading thief! Final goodbyes are hard, letting go is hard, this story was hard to read but what was easy was how Tarryn Fisher weaves her magic into your heart and made you love these imperfect flawed broken people as if they were your own no matter the lies, deceit, pain and angst they put you through no matter the mistakes they made all in the name of love.
