SPLATTTTT!!!!!!!
That was me...falling off the CLIFF!!!!!!!
...and after the fall...I'm definitely seeing STARS!!!!! 5 STARS to be exact!!!! AMAZING STORY!!!!!

I can't complain, I knew it was coming... that dreaded ending... but what a mind-blowing, amazing series this is. I absolutely love these books. Oh... and did I happen to mention, I am HEAD OVER HEELS in LOVE with DAEMON!!! (just incase I forgot to tell you.)

AYYYE another book that I've been trying to read! FINALLY READ it..well heard.. but ok

the audiobook was ...ok i would rate the reader 2.5 stars. her voice sounded like she was about to have an orgasm the whole time it was so annoying. and it was super slow...I guess it had to be for an audiobook but i sucked it up because I knew that i was simply never going to read this book on my own.

Oh for the love of alien babies everywhere!

Ok so I had high expectations for Opal because with J. Armentrout behind the wheel of this story I had no doubt it would be just as entertaining and amazing as the first two books since J. Armentrout is afterall...awesomesauce:)

God I love this series. It is just so damn SOLID! Every part of it-from the characters, to the plotline, to the brilliant and witty dialogue that crosses each and every page is just brilliant! (And as always, Daemon Black=Sexie Oh for the love of alien babies everywhere!

God I love this series. It is just so damn SOLID! Every part of it-from the characters, to the plotline, to the brilliant and witty dialogue that crosses each and every page is just brilliant! (And as always, Daemon Black=Sexiest character EVER!!!)

Opal started out right where Onyx left off and after about 30 pages or so it took off like, well...a Luxen. It was so nice to finally see Katy and Daemon get to be together. And what's more is that having them finally be together didn't at all take away from the playful banter that lit the fire under them in the first place.
The aftermath of Adam's death is felt in a lot of different areas throughout the story, particularly with Dee, but this is somewhat overshadowed by the re-appearance of Dawson who, after reading Shadows, I found to be a welcome character to the story. (Note: Definately read the prequel Shadows before reading Opal.) Dawson fell into the mix of things pretty flawlessly and the story took off from there with the rescue of Bethany being the groups current primary focus. Armentrout weaves in a lot of interesting and unexpected people and factors throughout the process which I really enjoyed.
Something else I really liked about Opal was how much growth Katy showed. The impact of everything that had happened in the first two books gave her a different kind of maturity in this one. In past books she made certain choices that sometimes annoyed me but in this book I didn't feel that even once. Katy was a bit darker in this one too. Not in a brooding sort of way, just in a more realistic way as she sat with the consequences of past mistakes and the dangerous unknowns of her future.
In terms of Katy and Daemon, they work together fully as a team for the first time and their connection feels stronger than ever. And it's so refreshing to see since this is what we've waited for and routed for since the beginning of this series. As always, they were just fun to watch and their love for each other is even more palpable than ever.

MINI SPOILER ALERT: Also, the more intimate scenes were fun and sweet and a bit steamy as always, though there was one particular scene I'd been waiting for (Woohoo! They totally do it! LOL) that I felt could have been a bit more detailed. Granted, I know this book is in the YA genre but I still feel the author could have gone a little further in describing the scene since we've been anticipating it for the past two and a half books. But with all due respect to Ms. Armentrout I know YA authors walk a fine line with these scenes. I just felt she could have gone a bit further in her description while still maintaining what's appropriate for the genre. So for me this particular scene unfortunately fell a little flatter than I would have liked.)

Opal ended on a hell of a cliffhanger but I was given a heads up on that which helped to soften the blow. Also, I'm ok with a cliffhanger since I know the 4th installment with be out in a few months and I have the utmost faith that J. Armentrout won't disappoint in how she ultimately ties everything together and stays true to the characters and relationships myself and so many others have grown to love!!!

I love Lux series, it has the most innovative, and entertaining world building but this review is not going to be fangirling type because I had some issues with Opal (namely Katy). It is a good book, and if you follow this series, then it is a must read, but unfortunately, it is not as good, and exciting as Onyx. I love Lux series, it has the most innovative, and entertaining world building but this review is not going to be fangirling type because I had some issues with Opal (namely Katy). It is a good book, and if you follow this series, then it is a must read, but unfortunately, it is not as good, and exciting as Onyx. The second book in the series, as you're already familiar with, was full of surprises, there was always something happening on every other page, and compared to that, Opal was a bit slow, and uninteresting, especially the second half.

I still loved Opal just because it has Dawson in it, and I'm totally a Dawson fan, been one since I read Shadows. He is the charming, and loving one, but in Opal we see a different side to him which was expected given the harsh treatment he went through past year. Before reading this book, I was scared that he would be broken mentally or something, but I was so happy that he was not. He just need a little time and space to get used to everything; he's not the old Dawson, but I still love the new one, and Oh. My. Gosh, the ending was just perfect for him. He got what he wanted, and I was screaming & dancing reading that part. I love Dawson & Bethany, and if you're their fan, then you will be happy at the end.

Opal is the steamiest book in the Lux series, and there were some scenes where I was simply shocked that it was happening in a YA book. Nothing too graphic, obviously, but I do tend to use my over imagination (*wink*). Daemon was his best in this book, very romantic and caring. Don't worry, he is still a tease, and egoistical as before. As for Katy, I've always liked her for how strong, and stubborn she was, but in Opal she seemed very unlikable. She acted a certain way that annoyed me, and kept unnecessary secrets that put others in danger. I just hope Katy is better in Origin.

Overall, I'm so happy to have read Opal. The first half of the book will have you gripping the edges of your seats, and flipping pages with Luxen speed just to see what happens next. It is that exciting, but then once you hit the halfway mark, things might get a little slow with the story-developing side, and focus more on the romantic aspect, which was still good. Most of you might disagree with me, but I just wasn't invested in most part of the story. I still don't know why because I've loved & 5 stared every JLA book, but Opal wasn't the best. My advice: Read it for Dawson. Do it! You will not be disappointed.

I love the Lux series. By the end of this book I thought I was going to cry I wanted to keep reading so badly. I can't wait for the next one. Daemon and Katy just keep getting better and better. In this book we get to see the two of them really commit one hundred percent to one another, and it's great to see how their relationship develops and how well they both know one another. Shut the FRONT DOOR!!! I can't believe it just eneded that way! AHHH! I didn't even realize I was at the end, I was so entranced in the book. The last time I checked my progress, I was at 52%, the next thing I know, I'm finished and my mouth is gaping open like a speechless tool!

5 Stars. Just about had an anxiety attack at one point while reading Opal. The ending was one of the most intense cliffhangers ever. Awesome YA series! I consider the Lux series more urban fantasy than paranormal romance.
