This series has completely captivated me! I am now dying for the final book. It's written in a way that makes things easy to understand and helps you really relate to the characters! I am blown away that tris is only 16 and Tobias 18! This doesn't feel like a younger read to me! It's raw and emotional and action packed and I'm so glad I read it!!! Insurgent picks up from where Divergent ended. In this book there is even more at stake for Tris, and she has to fight for her own life, what she believes in and holds dear. Some will be very happy to get to the bottom of what lurks in the mind and the minds of those who are "divergent", conflict is in the offing and you have to choose sides. Stuff is being revealed as each day goes by. And Tris begins to question the meaning of the various factions.

Insurgent is an equally breathless book, as Divergent. There is hardly a single moment in the book where the drama, tension and suspense dies. I spent some time getting into the book, but once I was in it I let myself be thrown around from side to side, one thrilling event after the other.

Another positive thing about the book is that we get more into the characters and the relationships between them. In particular, I thought it's great that the author spends more time developing the relationship between Tris and Four. She still does this in a credible and nice way, without having to use cheesy-gushy-mushy-stuff and clichés.

Tris's character develops more, as have several of the other characters. There is so many good character developments in this book versus what was in the previous one, which of course is natural. In book one Roth should put out the entire plot and characters in it, in book two she should spin on the people & world she created, including going deeper into the various people who act between the sides. Which is exactly what she did.

"Evil depends on where you're standing"

The language is just as good as in the first book, there are not many descriptions/other parts of text that seem redundant. Everything slides perfectly together.

"Grief is not as heavy as guilt, but it takes more away from you."

The last half of the book is unbearably exciting, and the end makes me want to get hold of the next book now! How am I supposed to wait until September/October???

I have said that this is one of the series that I think will be able to take THG's spotlight, and I still believe so. I love the universe that Roth has created, and the characters that populate it. I like the thinking behind the various factions, and the way they are handled. We also become better acquainted with several people from the other factions in this book, and I love that. :) ...more

Did I like this book? Not really. I'll be honest, I skimmed most of it. Then of course, I read the ending. Will I read the next book? Of course, because of the ending. Argh. Now I know why people get pissed about cliffhangers. ...more

I love this book. I was getting worried near the end, I thought it was going to end in a way that would ruin the rest of the book, but it ended wonderfully and I really cannot wait for the next book.
