I am having such a great run with the Amazon freebies and cheapies at the moment.

I read a lot of books, and I read a lot of romance books. When you read this many books there comes a time when you realise characters/plots/setting are often recycled in this genre. It breeds the cliché. When that time comes cute little stories that you would years previously have loved and smacked a 5 star on it can’t really get beyond 3.5 stars. All I can really say is, "Wow"! This book had me from the first page right until the last. I stayed up pretty much all night to finish it and I will be a walking zombie today;but it was so worth it!
If Lauren Stewart keeps writing books like this, she will go far as an author. I am so waiting in anticipation for the next book!!!
This book was a great new take on the "Jekyl and Hyde" idea. As I read this book I went through a roller coaster of emotions, and I love books that do that for me. This book was a great new take on the "Jekyl and Hyde" idea. As I read this book I went through a roller coaster of emotions, and I love books that do that for me. Not only does this have romance, but it also has suspense, betrayal and some horror thrown in! Throughout this story I was constantly finding out something else that had been hidden and the surprises that pop up at the end were great!! I really don't want to go into details of this book in fear that I might let something slip, and it is such a great read I would want any reader to experience it the way I did and not have a heads up on some of the secrets! I fell in love with the characters, Mitch and Eden. Mitch is a guy you can either love or hate, but because of his reasons for being so bitter and mean to people, I developed such a soft spot for him. He was so busy trying to throw his walls up and have people be pushed away, there was such a sense of vulnerability about him. Watching his sensitivity emerge throughout this story was so enjoyable and helped me realize that mostly everyone who holds such bitterness inside of them also has a part of them just wanting to be accepted and loved. It is usually there way of protecting themselves because they just don't want to be hurt in their lives.
Eden begins with being a little bit naive and holds such an extreme amount of loyalty in the people she loves and sees them as someone that can do no wrong. In alot of ways this sets her up to be hurt because no one is perfect and when a person puts another on a pedestal, there is always going to come a time where they let that individual down.
I love that this book has gotten me thinking about the dynamics of people and their interactions with other. In so many ways there is just so much insight in this book and so many facets of it that can keep me busy for hours thinking about it. This one is going to stay with me for awhile and I eagerly await the release of part two. Lauren Stewart has a new fan in me and I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to be entertained and likes to read books that really stop and make you think! My suggestion when you do sit down and read it, allow yourself ample amount of time to read it in one sitting, you won't want to put it down! ...more

Well, damn. That was quite a ride. Lies, secret organizations, betrayal, murder, monsters and mayhem galore. It was quite a lot to pack in. I was frustrated for a good deal of the beginning of the book. I couldn't decided who could be trusted, and the only character I even kind of liked was Eden. But then good old Mitch finally gave in and actually became the hero of the story, and what a hero he was. Talk about a tortured soul. GRRRR....I didn't know this was a cliffhanger. I would have waited for book 2 to be released (in December) before embarking on book 1. When I say cliffhanger...I mean a 100% bona fide cliffhanger.
This book was an interesting mystery with a unique storyline that kept me on my toes. This was a no skimming type of read where I sometimes had to go back and reread a paragraph to make sure I was following the action. I did think the pace in the first 65% of the book could have moved a little faster. ...more
