Well, I did it; I finally took the plunge and started the series everyone has been talking about! This was my first Abbi Glines book, and I can honestly say it won't be my last! I was hooked from Blaire's first meeting with Grant, all the way through to the heartbreaking end with Rush. I devoured this book and was not bored in the least. I didn't always love the characters though, in fact, sometimes I didn't like some of them very much at all. This was my first Abbi Glines book, and I can honestly say it won't be my last! I was hooked from Blaire's first meeting with Grant, all the way through to the heartbreaking end with Rush. I devoured this book and was not bored in the least. I didn't always love the characters though, in fact, sometimes I didn't like some of them very much at all. In my eyes though, that didn't matter because my feelings were engaged one hundred percent and that is what makes an awesome book!
We start off with meeting Blaire who has left her hometown with nothing but her truck, twenty dollars, and a whole lot of lonliness and grief. Her mother has passed away and Blaire has come to this new town to be with the father who abandoned her and her mom long ago. After taking care of her dying mother for three years, Blaire had nothing and no one left. She needed to rely on this man whom she had a lot of anger towards; but when she arrives at the address he gave her she is given a big surprise. This is where Rush Finlay comes into the picture. Here is a very hot, sexy, son of a popular rocker who is very rich and a playboy with woman. His first meeting with Blaire doesn't go well at all. In fact, he can't stand her on site and one of the biggest reasons is she is related to the "step-dad" he despises. The step dad is in Paris at the moment; but Rush reluctantly allows Blaire to live in his house until the father in question returns. He sticks her in a tiny room under the stairs and lets her know that she is unwelcome and had better find a job quickly so she can leave. Blaire is just grateful for whatever is handed to her and she lands a job within the first day. She sets out to prove herself very well and there develops an attraction between her and Rush that in time both won't be able to ignore. There are many secrets and lies though, and Blaire knows that her bliss won't last long. What she doesn't know is how deep these secrets will hurt her and change her life. Will love be able to conquer all?

I have to say that Rush rubbed me the wrong way from the start. He did grow on me eventually; but some of the ways he first hurt Blaire were awful, I am hoping that he will make up for this in the second book! Blaire at times got under my skin as well, I found her at times to be a little bit too simple and naive. I understand she took care of her sick mother and missed out on a lot of her teen years but sometimes it just seemed a little too much. She allowed people to walk all over her, and often felt like she wasn't worthy enough to receive better treatment. My hope is that she grows more as a person in the next story because she has a great foundation if she can just have some more back bone and self esteem. Some of the secondary characters were intriguing as well, and I certainly want more of Woods and Grant. They are two guys who I would love future reads about.
Abbi Glines will for sure be on my auto buy now, and I look forward to checking out past title that she has written as well. I now move onward to the second adventure with Blaire and Rush and I am looking forward to it! ...more

This was my first experience with an audiobook where I couldn't stop. The story is very angsty and well written. The narrator does a fantastic job and I found a hint of southern twang endearing... I LOLed so hard whenever she would narrate Rush saying "Sweet Blair" and long curse word "F-----uck" in a deep voice.

Already got the next book as an audible... Can't get enough of the angsty angst and the blooming love between Blair and the always shirtless tattoo-covered rock-legend spawn Rush Finley ...more

I've put this book on such a high pedestale that I was convinced that it wouldn't live up the the hype.

The first paragraph hooked me! I mean she just pulled a dang on gun out on Rush's brother...hahah hillarious!
Blaire 19 just lost her mother, the house she grew up in had to be sold to pay medical bills and the only option was to move in with her estranged dad and his new wife. She arrives in Rosemary in the midst of a party and guess what? Daddy dear is not even there to great her, he is in Paris with his new wife! She meets Rush, the beautiful son of her dad's new wife.
My first impression was arrogant ahole! Rush has a change of heart after kicking her out, and has her sleeping under the stairs in the housekeepers quarters. Fast forward a bit, I liked Blaire in the beginning a lot but once she started circling around Rush and even though he was so disrespectful having sex with a different female daily, on top of doing it in the front of Blaire and she still chased him like a puppy, I lost some of that respect for her...
Yes, she is 19, she is naive however didn't make excuses since she has seen him with all these different females.
Then he doesn't protect her from his sister's Nan's wrath, and that just made me dislike Rush that much more.

Daddy and his new wife arrive back, and this huge secret is revealed that reveals Blaire's whole life is a big fat lie. Rush's and Blaire's life are far more entangled then she would have thought.. She packs up and leaves, and that's when poor old Rush realizes he is in love.
Well boo-hoo you broke heart, lied to her, and you just don't deserve her!

i want to give 4 stars but i cant!

this story had a good start...even interesting.. but then again it became another cliche.. the story line is diiferent but then again the execution is cliche...

the male lead doesnt complete a sentence with out cussing..its a bit too much and repetitive. the female lead is a lil bit whiny and seem to forgot some self respect till the end of the story...
except the first 10 and the last 40 pages,the rest of the book is dragged..

Well, i'm disappointed. I am sorry to say but the story lacked a flow, and i expected a much interesting read. Else, the storyline was awesome. Really refreshing.The secrets had my head spinning. Damn fine book, but the emotions were dealt a little wrong in my p.o.v. The thoughts and actions of Blaire seemed a bit off. I read the next book together so i will comment of that one too,here. (no spoilers). The story's ending seemed incomplete. I'm sure we will get to see more of them in next books, ...more

Ms. Abbi Glines what did you do to me??? How can I wait til March 2012 for the sequel??? You left us wondering what will happen next to Blaire and Rush. I have a feeling that Cain will play a big part in the next book but I just wished that the ending was not like that... It kept me wanting more.
