Where do I start? Instead of giving you the background of the novel I am going to give you my reaction only.

I stumbled upon a group on Goodreads labeled Consequences Support Group and it immediately sparked my interest. I purchased the book with barely skimming the description. I figured if it already has a support group it must be worth reading. I went into this book blind and I’m glad I did because I might have been a little scared.

Aleatha Romig is a literary genius. I have experienced happiness, love, lust, fear, and sadness from books, never can I say that I experienced them all at once.

I felt like I was experiencing moments bipolar/Stockholm Syndrome/multiple personality from page to page. One minute I would be in fear, in tears, afraid to turn the page, then the next I was saying ‘oh well it can’t be THAT bad’. Yes this book is a total and utter mindf*ck. Romig blew my mind away. I cannot imagine how she created Claire and Tony. Speaking of Tony….

Follow my rules: number one, do as you are told, do not divulge personal information, actions have consequences, appearances are of vital importance, and public failure is not an option.

He is cold. He is kind. He hurts. He heals. He is calculating. He is thoughtful. He is beautiful. He is ruthless. He is a fantasy. He is a nightmare. I do not think I ever understood the definition of the word paradox until Tony found his way into my heart and my fears. He is by favorite the most fascinating character I have ever had a pleasure of reading about. The lines between love and hate were so blurred it was no wonder Claire had to find a way to adapt.

No truer quote could ever begin to describe Claire and the her journey. I have read other opinions of her ‘putting’ up with Tony’s treatment but she is one of the smartest heroines in a book today. There were moments when her pain was so real I found myself living those emotions. My heart ached for her in ways I’m not sure I can describe. All of her actions made sense. To have imagined her handling Tony in any other way would have been such a disservice to this book.

Consequences is a book that stayed with me for days. I finished it around 4 in the morning. Fell asleep for 2 hours and awoke because I couldn’t get Tony or Claire out of my head. I immediately started book 2 ‘Truth’. I also preached about this series to anyone willing to listen to me. I am a very emotional reader but I have never experienced a more intense reaction to a book as much as I have about Consequences.

Infinite* There is no rating that could properly convey my absolute love of this book. It is a must read!

I can't believe all the crap that happened ... I kept hoping that I frekin' imagined it all.

I do not even know where to begin! This was the biggest mindfuck I have ever read. I was confused with my feelings the whole way through. I was rooting for a psychopath at a few points. What started as a freaky romance, ended in a huge twisted mystery. Every possible emotion, good and bad, was touched while reading this novel.

Claire Nichols is a laid-off meteorologist, working as a bartender, she has $210,000 in debt. One night at work, a mysterious dark patron comes in and asks Claire for a drink after work. Anthony Rawlings is tall, dark, and handsome. He is extremely private. Not many people know the real Tony. A contract is made on a bar napkin, ridding her of her debt. What is Claire getting herself into? She thinks a possible job, but it is of course, much, much more. Claire is taken from her home and life and given the choice to fight back or adapt. Which takes more strength?

“I would rather think about the consequences of staying with you and learning what makes you happy,” she smiled, “and learning what you want of me, and when you want it.”

Each word means something in this story. I did feel at times while reading the first 80% that the story could have been shorter, but it made sense once I finished. I do wish the author would have included more dialogue in parts, but none of those took away from the rating. This author has such a skill with her writing. I was floored with each page turned. I cannot wait to begin Truth. This is an absolute must-read. But know this, it is not for the weak-stomach. It was strong adult-content, and could be hard for some to get through. Do not expect a fun short evening to finish this. It is deep and real.

First of all, I do not review every book I've read, only the ones that stay with me long after I finish the last page. This is truly one of those books. I finished it almost a week ago and have not been able to stop thinking about it. Thankfully I had the second book in series to keep my longing for more satisfied!

I was not sure exactly what to expect when I started reading the book. The description seemed pretty ambiguous and I chose to try it without reading many review. I am glad that's how I started the book. I really enjoyed not knowing what was coming. It allowed me to feel the emotions in the same way the characters did!

This book was so very amazing because of its way to make the reader feel the same emotions the characters felt. I felt so uncertain and legitimately scared at times. Then I just felt confused about what emotion I was feeling. The whole time I was reading, and after I finished, I was amazed at how clearly I could understand and actually feel Claire's emotions. The author did an absolutely amazing job with this book.

I cannot believe this was the author's first novel. Her ability to truly make the reader truly feel throughout the book was incredible!

The characters in the book were amazing. They were all so complex and some of them even made you love them when you knew it was wrong! I loved it!

Like I said, I didn't know what to expect when I started reading. I thought maybe it would be like Captive in the Dark, but it wasn't quite like that - it definitely had a different feel and is not quite as dark, though it was just as confusing emotionally. I think it was more like Taken (by Kelli Maine), combined with 50 Shades, and a little bit of Beauty and the Beast thrown in. A great combination!

I loved that it was a long book and let me really get to spend time with the characters and the story. I definitely recommend it! ...more

This is one of those stories that is so fucked up and I hated it so much but I just kept reading it BECAUSE IT WAS SO FUCKED UP I HAD TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF FUCKERY WOULD COME NEXT!

This book is such a mind fuck I'm pretty sure my mother was two minutes away from submitting me into a mental institution. I literally tried explaining the story to her and ended up in a laughing fit and then started crying while I was explaining this book.

When I first finished this book, I had a wide range of emotions… terror, sadness, happiness, lust and then sadness again. My emotions were literally all over the place. How I felt about Anthony depended on what page I was reading. How could I hate this man, be attracted to him and love him all in the same book? I was on an emotional roller coaster, but one that wanted to go back on once the ride was over!!!
