In no way is this book like 50 Shades of Grey. There is a HUGE difference between the two and I would tell you it but it would give away a major part of the plot in this 3 book series. 50 shades has it's happy moments, it's ups and downs, it's lovely-doveyness (despite all the "I'm terrible, I like to whip little brown-haired girls") Tony - the male lead - is quite frankly, a monster. In comparison, Christian is a puppy.

Not only that, but it's a real heartwrencher. Soooo many times did I want to smash my kindle. And I mean, take aim and freaking FIRE, I was so angry, frustrated and heart sick!

I feel like I haven't conveyed my objection enough over the difference between the two so I'm just going to say it...

[....Kidnap. Rape. Horrible physical and mental abuse - Frequently. Stockholm Syndrome.]

Don't get me wrong, read the books, but maybe not part of a group and definitely not with 50 Shades in mind. If you do read them, read it for Claire (the female lead). She NEEDS her story told. She DESERVES to have her story told and she is an amazing woman. Yes, the work is fiction and it is a beautifully written and put together storyline by Aleatha but it is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. It left me out of sorts for weeks.

I hope I helped.(less)

I must say, it took me a second to wrap my head around the purpose of this story. It is NOT erotica, NOT romance. I don't say this negatively either. I mention it because this book is often compared to mine and it perhaps isn't a fair comparison. A lot of MY scenes ARE written in such a way to be titillating. The scenes in THIS BOOK are not written to arouse the reader and are spare in the details during the sexual acts. I don't think the author's intent was titillation. I believe this story is ...more

That ENDING!!! I mean … just … ummm… *speechless*

I have lost sleep. My mind has been utterly toyed with. And I still have no freaking clue how I should feel about Tony Rawlings.

To the rest of the world, Anthony Rawlings is a mega-successful self-made billionaire who donated to charity, is always perfectly presented and never puts a foot wrong. To Claire Nicols, he is her captor. Her abductor. Her torment

1.5 stars. Yes, I'm giving this book an extra half star because the ending was a little bit of a head trip. But wow, did I have a hard time staying awake through the majority of the middle. Stuff started to draaaaag, big time.

Fairly spoiler-free review. I will mention the kidnapping and minor plot/character points, but I think most of this is a given, considering the book summary.

Before anyone throws popcorn at me, let me clarify that I did get the concept of the story. I understood the plot an
The 'Consequences' series has to be one of my all-time favorite series. If you follow my reviews, you know that I love disturbing, dark stories that feature nearly irredeemable heroes. This is one of those stories.

I first read this book years ago and I was blown away. It is one that I find myself returning to again and again. When I can't seem to find a new book that is holding my interest, this is one of my "go-tos". It is like a little piece of reading heaven for a twisted soul like mine.

I have no problem with erotic stories containing non-consensual sex. I'm not a hypocrite; I've written one. I have written erotic fiction for over 10 years. I have argued against conservatives, against literary critics, against certain streams of feminism for the legitimacy of womens' rights to carve their erotic fantasies out of a horrifically patriarchal past. I have argued that we cannot suddenly purge ourselves of the semiotic language of sexual power dynamics and that they will inform the d ...more

The last 10 percent of this book deserved the 5 stars. It was just so shocking and crazy. While reading this book, all I wanted to do was throw my kindle at the wall because I was so freaking frustrated.

This book was so good!! It’s a dark, intense, twisted, emotional mind fuck kind of story. I thought I had the ending figured out and then BAM!!! something totally different happens.

I get giddy just thinking about the level of excitement and frustration I felt when I first read CONSEQUENCES. I was a little crazed by the "not knowing" what was going to happen next, but that is half the fun, right? I struggled with wanting to strangle and hug Aleatha Romig for creating a story that elicited such powerful emotions in me. Story Review:
So, this is the third attempt for me trying to review this book. My first review, while probably entertaining was more of me coming off extreme emotions and I just spewed my hate. For me, it was a brutal review and I don't really like leaving reviews like that. So later I changed it to a "it's not for me" review and that isn't exactly helpful either. So now that it's been a year and I can calmly review this book, I'm going to give it a go.

I started this book because it had been compared to The Dark Duet Series by C.J. Roberts , which is one of my fav series of the year.

Most people smack a big 5 stars on this book because it is a bloody mindfuck. I'll be the first to acknowledge that the best part of this book was the the last 15%. I didn't see it coming, it blew my mind. However that last bit didn't want a jump from a 1 star book to a 5 star book. The ending really only gave it another 2 star.

Straight to my Best of the Best list! Aleatha Romig is a genius! I was so wrong about this knight in shining armor. At first, I thought that Consequences would be a book about a controlling alpha-male millionaire and how he romances a young, beautiful girl who is in debt and saves her, but this was not fluffy romance or an erotic novel.

It is the dark story of a strong young woman trapped in a very abusive relationship with a powerful man that has ulterior motives. The author was very brave to
