A Perfect Ending to a Powerful Series!

Josephine Angelini outdid herself with Goddess! I can't imagine how cleverly she connected the original Trojan War characters to the newest cast in this book. It was mind blowing! There were so many shocking twists and change in characters that I did NOT see coming. There is one person in particular who had been perfectly normal throughout the series but in this book he/she turned out to be on the opposite side in the war and I was left Speechless with tha A Perfect Ending to a Powerful Series!

There were so many shocking twists and change in characters that I did NOT see coming. There is one person in particular who had been perfectly normal throughout the series but in this book he/she turned out to be on the opposite side in the war and I was left Speechless with that discovery. And the ending! Freaking perfect for the series! It wasn't wrapped up in a shiny red bow with the happily ever after thing but it was wrapped up pretty neatly. The story is over but there's always a chance for more because it's not the end of Helen and Lucas yet.

Helen, Orion and Lucas are now blood brothers and that has given Helen some additional powers along with the ones she already had. Helen was truly a goddess in this book, she was smart, powerful, calculative, and finally someone I always wanted her to be. She showed tremendous growth, but I still feel sad that it took her wayyy to long to figure out who her real dad was. In my Dreamless review, I pinned that question as the major game changer of this series and even said that it might be one of the Gods but the answer turned out to be pretty anticlimatic. It was definitely unsatisfying, but it didn't bother me that much because the rest of the story was epic. We get to know why Daphne lied through this whole time (it was selfish of her to do so), who the tyrant is (unbelievable!), who is Orion descended from (Love him! He's my favorite God!), why was Hades so helpful to Helen (Ah, he is such a compassionate, loving person), and finally who Helen really is (again, shocking!).

Though I do have to say one thing--Goddess ruined my good memory of Helen of Troy. We get flashbacks of her story through Helen (of Nantucket?) and Helen of Troy was a total selfish bitch in this book; she might call her acts selfless, but that's not how I saw it. When I read the scene where the Trojan Horse is allowed to enter the Troy premises, I cried. I have never sobbed so bad and at that point, I hated Helen of Troy. I was glad that Helen of Nantucket was much smarted than her and made the right decisions in the end. I loved her! And how can I forget Hector? Since Starcrossed, I always thought that he would be the other part of the love triangle--but then we were introduced to Orion in Dreamless--nevertheless, I always saw him as the hero of this series. Hector is a true warrior, first in line to protect his loved ones and I want someone like him. He makes me swoon with his every scene. Lucas ain't got nothing on him! I'd even prefer Orion over Lucas, he was pretty hardcore dreamy too! Orion + Hector = Fantasy come true!

Goddess was, as I expected, EPIC in every way! This is the best Greek Mythology I've ever read and it's true that Joseohine Angelini focused more on the storyline and mythology than the main characters, but it works perfectly. I did connect with the character, but instead of seeing where the romance or individual character development was going, I was more focused on the importance of their role in the overall story. And that's what makes Starcrossed trilogy so addicting. Every character is chess piece and absence of any of them would make this series crumble into disaster. I'm sad to let these characters go, but I love that I can revisit them anything and still enjoy their journey.

Loved reading this book again, knowing that we're going to be continuing Helen and Lucas's stories early next year! Such a great read!

Loved rereading this book, that Helen and Lucas were also Genevieve and Lancelot! And the faces, and the cycles, really great! Loved this book!

An amazing ending to a great series! I myself love Mythology and this is a fantastic and somewhat surprising rendering of our loved and well-known legends of Greek's Mythology.
I liked Helen a lot. She is strong and fair and tries her best always. Still, a bit too impulsive, but in light of all the struggle she has to face to control her immense power, she deserves a little understanding of her faults.
Lucas was awesome too, but a little too hasty in that last decision that cost him a certain happ ...more

When I started Goddess, I was really unsure. The books in this series have gotten progressively better with each installment, but I was afraid that this one wouldn't live up to my standards. It didn't help that I started it out blind-- I had to relearn several of the character names, because I didn't re-read the previous books before starting. This made the first few chapters a bit muddy, because I had to sort out all of the secondary characters in my mind.
I liked that we got a few glimpses int When I started Goddess, I was really unsure. I liked that we got a few glimpses into Daphne's mind with Goddess-- in earlier books, she's been a huge mystery, but I loved that she opened up a little in this one. (And she's not all bad.) But before I start in on the virtues of Daphne (few and rare), I want to talk about Helen. The main character, the balm that's supposed to hold this whole series together. Honestly, Helen isn't a great character to me. I do like her, but it's the secondary characters that really make it pop.
For instance, when I think about why I love this series...what comes to mind? Orion. Lucas. Hector. All of the interwoven stories from ancient mythology. Memories and Scions...did you notice that none of my reasons were Helen? I did. And honestly, it really doesn't bother me that I don't "love" Helen.

I did, however, like the introduction of Andy! A new character in a group you've come to love is always exciting, because you're not sure how they'll play with the other characters; but I loved Andy. She was so interesting-- a siren? Come on. That is awesome. I also liked the introduction of her as {SPOILER}Hector's love interest. They were so adorable together!{/SPOILER}

And I just have to talk about Orion for a little bit, y'all. I love him! He's like my sad puppy dog, honestly. I'm always rooting for the guy who probably won't win. But I just can't help it! Orion was a really deep character, and I felt like I could feel his sadness. And it was sad-- I did love his ending, though. He deserves to be someone's first choice.

As I've mentioned before, I loved the Greek myths that were interwoven into the story-- the idea that each character was a representation of each of the myth characters was awesome! I completely fell in love with some of the characterizations, let me tell you. All the pieces and characters connect and snap perfectly together. Unfortunately, I did think that it was obvious from the beginning that Helen was {SPOILER}the tyrant.{/SPOILER} It didn't ruin the plot or anything, because I was completely freaking out over it, but... (OMG OMG OMG)

There is so many other things that I want to tell you, but I just can't risk spoiling the book! Just know that my heart strings were tugged back and forth, and that the ending (while semi-happy) fell a bit flat. The rest of the book was so amazing, but the ending was slightly anti-climatic. There was a lot that I wanted to see resolved. Overall, this series is really worth a read. Don't let a "slightly" anti-climatic ending keep you away! ...more

A perfect ending to this series. The only thing which has been constant throughout these books is that the writing is really awkward at times. But otherwise, all the twists and turns were perfect!
