Finally got this off my conscience. I do not like the awkward sentences that are meant to sound mythic or ancient. I do like a whole bunch of other groundbreaking stuff, like the description in the beginning of the white-skinned, yellow-haired barbarians, and Sparrowhawk/Ged being red-black, and Vetch being brown-black. I like the rules of how the different kinds of magic work.

Ged, a young wizard, like most young people wants to get to the exciting stuff as soon as possible, but in his haste unleashes a terrible evil upon the world that now hunts him down.

This first book of the Earthsea series by Ursula K. Le Guin was a great read. I am not normally a fan of Fantasy that involve world-building. I loved this book though Ged is a very compelling character. It's a compelling story, told in an amazingly short form. Maybe because this book was published in 1968, and books have definitely gotten longer in recent years. It seems amazing that Le Guin was able to build this whole world and tell Ged's story in less than 200 pages.
