So, unlike Greek mythology, I’m quite new with Norse mythology. I don’t know much about it. I don’t think I ever read a book about it before. I don’t even watch Marvel’s Thor. So this one is my first experience and I don’t have anything to compare it with (I don’t count Wikipedia) either. And I might be biased since Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite authors, but I loved and really enjoyed reading this book.

To be honest I've not before read any of the original Norse myths. I knew what exposure to pop culture and stories that used them as a template or launching pad had taught me and little else, so it was great to come across this and finally learn what the brass tacks are.
The writing style is largely like a standard book of myths would read, but every now and again you get a lovely Gaiman bit of flair and you just know he couldn't resist adding that detail or joke.

Norse Mythology is not a novel, which is the second thing I think I have to put out there. It is more or less a straight retelling of the Norse Myths featuring Thor, Loki, and Odin. It was shelved at my Barnes and Noble with the other mythology books and not with the Sci-fi/Fantasy where you normally find his work.

It's much shorter than I anticipated -- the cover image looks heavy tome-ish? -- but it's really the right length, and a lot of fun.
