This is a fantastic middle grade mythological fantasy story. I’m pretty sure I’m among the last few people who haven’t read this one before now but I’m glad I finally grabbed it to give it a shot.

Percy Jackson is a series that I've been meaning to get around to for ages. Pretty much everybody I know who have read the books absolutely adore them.
So, when I needed a few quick reads to play catch up on my reading challenge, I decided that it was a good enough time to give the series a go.
...and it's not too bad.
There was a lot about The Lightning Thief that I enjoyed. The premise was a lot of fun. I liked the humor - especially the chapter titles. I liked the translation of Olympus from anc ...more

My son wanted to read these books first. I decided to read WITH him instead. This book is so good after the first few chapters I began to read alone. Yes I did go back to where WE stpped and read with him, but it was so good I had to cheat.
This is really an epic journey tale, the kind that grabs you and changes how you see your world. I find myself thinking of the book, and its players, and how their journey to maturity compares to mine. I dont think I would've reacted so bravely and courageous ...more

Rereading this and still seeing that its lived up to the hype has been such an amazing feeling.
