I enjoy this story. It's not at all something I thought I would because it's not the usual type of story I read (typically I don't go for slave stories and I also don't gravitate to stories that don't have much emotion written into the narrative)-- but I grew intrigued as I read and along the way I found I really wanted to know what would happen. *shrug. It's not bad. It's actually a quite intelligent approach to the whole slave thing, although the profusion of extraneous commas was quite irritating at the best of times.

Anyways, I've been recently making a more active attempt to be more descriptive rather than prescriptive about my approach to books. It's worked wonders on my perception of the relative quality of said books.

It feels rather short, for whatever reason.

I cannot stop recommending this trilogy to my friends, Im even tempted to buy them copies just so I can have someone I can talk to about it. Also thanks so much to Navessa that I actually found this series. She's pretty kickass with her reviews and 4star+ reviews from her are like finding water in the dessert so when she rated the second book a 5 stars, heck yeah i listened!

So back to this book, this book i tell you is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G and I think 60% Like Duh this would be on my favourites shelf. So back to this book, this book i tell you is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G and I think 60% why its that amazing is duh, Laurent aka my son's awesome word slappin. He is just fabulous. Slash fan fictions are nothing new to me but a m/m romance between 2 princes from neighbouring, warring lands? Set me up! Tbh, I shamefully went into this expecting the 3 romance cliches, roses, stuffed animals and chocolate (well maybe not but you get the idea) but what I got was AMAZING CHEMISTRY, MIND-BLOWING PLOTS WITH BRILLIANT VILLAINS and oh man the slow burn of those two guys, sitting in my AC room never felt hotter *fans myself*

Damen says later on in the other book, you see Laurent wielding his sword in delicate pretty patterns but once he's done, its a different design altogether. I loved how I expected a certain outcome but was then blindsided by this woah! plan instead. I was never bored, I flew through all 3 books in 3 days (lucky me discovered the series after the final book was out!) and throughout the whole time reading I was kept in sweet suspense. The book is action packed and everything is said with a purpose. I re-read the books and each time I was able to find a different perspective on what was said.

No fillers in the story, it was packed from pg 1 till the last one. I even read the acknowledgements page ok, that's when you know the book is DIS GOOD. GO READ IT ALREADY GOD DAMN IT. Bless you sweet child. Warning: Laurent is going to blow your ovaries girls. (but you would endure it a thousand times over because, its Laurent: this will make sense after you read the book) <3 ...more
