Reading three different translations of Gilgamesh at the same time to compare & contrast. This one is a translation by Andrew George and is considered by scholars to be the definitive modern English translation. This one is more literal than the verse narrative by Herbert Mason. It was also a little harder to read because it includes all the repetition common to ancient writings. It wasn't vastly different than the Herbert Mason verse narrative version until the end, when Gilgamesh meets Utnapis

Reading three different translations of Gilgamesh at the same time to compare & contrast. This one is a prose translation by N. K. Sandars. This was very similar to the translation by Andrew George, but more easily read. This one also includes the Death of Gilgamesh, but in a very abbreviated fashion. This version may be my favorite. It's easy to read, hits the same notes as the more literal translation, and doesn't take as many liberties as the verse narrative version.

Reading three different translations of Gilgamesh at the same time to compare & contrast. This one is the Verse Narrative by Herbert Mason, which is not a literal translation at all. The section with Utnapishtim (Noah) has the most variances with the other versions. In this version, Utnapishtim goes into a lot more philosophy about immortality than in the other editions. He talks about how youth is cruel to an old face, and hell is living unloved. Utnapishtim also says that if one lives forever
