After reading Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish I thought I knew what I was in for with this series. Both books feature interconnected tales of Geralt of Rivia, The Witcher. Both books are very enjoyable. Blood of Elves is the beginning of an epic fantasy. This is a major gear change.

All the things you would expect from an epic fantasy are present.

The politics are essential to understanding why the events are unfolding in the greater world but they bored me to death and seemed to take up too m

This was book 3 out of the Witcher series - what really attracted me to the book and continued to keep me interested is the fact that there is no "boring moment" and the story line continues to excite me as a reader with more events and surprises that continue to come up.
I haven't played the video game perhaps i will play it once I am done with the entire series.
I would personally recommend this book to everyone who is looking for something interesting thats far from reality and full of surpri

After Sword of Destiny had been a bit of a disappointment for me, Blood of Elves is back to the full strength of The Last Wish right from the start. I really love it even though it checks several of the boxes about things I hate the most in fantasy book. There's a prophecy and a Chosen One, but it's not completely stupid and the characters in the story are just as confused about what it might mean as any discerning reader would.
