I was enjoying the heck out of the first half of this! Then the second half got bogged down in static talk and training, none of which I found particularly exciting. Certainly I'd read more though. There's intrigue a plenty herein! ...more

Mediocre, Brunner is better

Geralt and the concept of Witchers is awesome. Storytelling is pretty good. Delivery sucks, definitely not helped by the layout formatting. Best part of book was last 12%. After 2 books, I still don't know why everyone supposedly hates Witchers so much and I'm quite tired of that lack of world logic. Clint Werner's Brunner tales are much more enjoyable.

Bewitched!

Witcher is one of the greatest characters to arrive in our world of fantasy. Even with all the violence— overt or covert, in the air, it's the humour and pathos that make the saga so deeply memorable.
And as one can predict from my rating, I MUST read the succeeding volumes— especially since this one has stopped while keeping us hanging.
Onwards, then.

Definitely less of a book than the previous two I read in the series. I got bored at many points. Just too much exposition and not enough of something actually happening.
