I'm on my way to the final book of the trilogy. This has been a great series, and I was actually able to enjoy 'The Twelve' a little more than I did 'The Passage' because this time I was prepared for Cronins method of time crossing and the poetic prose he used in this apocalyptic, vampiric tale.

I will give an overall opinion of the trilogy when finished, but so far, I've enjoyed the unique style and telling of an otherwise overdone story. ...more

This was pretty good. A lot more formulaic than its predecessor, but hey it's doing the trilogy thing and needs to build up. Nice imagery and interesting characters, but what in the holy hell was going on with the rape stuff?! No. No. No. Over the top and unnecessary. Cut that crap out Cronin. I contemplated dropping the book completely at that point and I'm not squeamish, but the blatant and just plain awful shock value was not warranted. ...more

3.5 stars is actually my rating on this. All in all a good entertaining read, however was not what I expected. In my opinion The Twelve is a bit wordy and some of the plot lines overly obvious. I think some of the connections and plot lines could have still been accomplished with fewer pages. I loved some of the background on some of the characters from the first book that had minor roles, but at the same time, I felt like I was being bombarded with characters and at some points information over ...more
