This is the first horror action book that I've read about mermaids (although I have seen a few movies about them) and the plot kept me interested until the last page. The story centers on the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean and the large science ship that goes there looking for the deadly mermaids. We meet many scientists from different fields plus a lady newswoman who oddly enough has problems dealing with people due to trauma in her past. Two of the characters are also deaf so sign languag
