A darkly comic, absurdly tragic metaphor for the meaninglessness of man's existence, a work-a-day peon wakes up one morning a giant cockroach, horrifying and enraging the family members who in their dependence have become parasites on him for their livelihood. So representative of modern drudgery and the reduction of life to mere slavery it could only have been written by a genius.
