What Members Thought

This is the second time that Wells has done this to me (and yes, it is definite that he wrote ALL his novels in the late 1800s with the sole intent of wooing and shocking some random lady in the far future. Whatever.) The book's beginning lures me into complacency, thinking, "Oh, what a cute bit of early scifi." And then the book proceeds to scare the crap out of me.

For being written in the late 1800s. It still feels really futuristic. Maybe not the story, but they ideas Wells had. For his time I feel H.G. Wells was far ahead of his time. One of the first Sci-fiction authors. Got interested in reading this book when I was watching a documentary about early authors and some of the books Wells wrote acutally gave ideas of how to build tanks for WWI.
