I wish I had written something right after I finished the book, but the timing was awful. I read the book for Uni, had to write an assignment on it, then I went on holiday to the other side of the world for 2.5 weeks the day after the assignment was due, and was totally jet lagged for a week after I came back. I have also read another book meanwhile, with the next assignment due very soon, and I'm now down with cold. Anyway...

This was an interesting book that I managed to read while actually in India. It is a moving story about the caste system and gender in India. Roy is an amazing writer. She uses imagery like no author I have ever read. Not to spoil it but things do not end as one would hope. It is not a typical fairy tale which makes it that much more of a good read.
