Let’s get something straight - this book scared the shit out of me. This should be labeled as ‘realistic horror’.
The way the story unfolds, in stops and starts and remembrances... this was more true and moving than any story told in straightforward language in cohesive order.

I did not find the Handmaid's Tale an easy book to read - I disliked almost everything about her constrained, constricted life - but her story was certainly interesting.
