Put into the appropriate historical chronology, this classic was a strong indictment of the slave states and was used successfully to help end slavery in the South by later legislation. Stowe used many actual accounts and historical facts, by her own admission, to create her characters, showing both the worst and best of humanity involved. I want to write a beneficial review when I have time but for now I think it's important to say that this book is not meant to be just a book to show us how terribly evil slavery is. It does show us this and we need to see it but I think the main theme is redemption. For now this is my favorite book within the classics genre.
