This is at least my third time reading Jane Eyre. I am not a fan of Mr. Rochester and I bristle when this is described as a romance. But I do love Jane's fortitude, her deep convictions, her integrity. She is true to herself above all and I love her for it.

I'd read this book before as a teenager, but it felt very different this time around. Why did I ever think this was the same as Pride and Prejudice? This reminded me more of Twilight than a Jane Austen (maybe because of the whole dark-and-brooding, way-too-old-for-you "Edward" that appears in both books?). I've been meaning to read this book for the longest time and the new movie release was really the motivation for me to just get down to reading the book. I really loved this book as a whole. It reminded me why I love classic literature at its best. More than anything else, the narrative description nature of feelings is what kept me immersed and committed to Jane Eyre's story.
