Old-timey SF from the master of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. I don't figure I've read this since 7th or 8th grade.

As an adult, the story is interesting and a very fast read. It is a little thin on characterization. Another thing that strikes me, steeped in our contemporary obsession with cinematic, "show, don't tell" writing style is how much HG Wells and his contemporaries summarized the action.

An interesting short story by one of the first sci-fi writers of note. The language is a bit stilted but a good read and a classic. I read this as a eBook.
