Overall, I thought this book was fantastic! It's definitely more family drama thriller than courtroom thriller, but Angie Kim pulls it off flawlessly! Family drama thrillers aren't usually my thing, but I think my opinion has officially been changed. Or I've just finally read a book that meets my high standards!

this courtroom thriller/family drama is just WOW + switching POVs from victims to accused—everyone with something to hide, all bearing some degree of guilt—keeps the propulsive pace throughout + suspicion is cast wide, and the lines are blurry between guilt & innocence + the characters are so well-drawn, with their utter human-ness, mixed emotions, motivations—and kim slices your heart wide open in showing the lengths to which a parent will go for their child + this book is so smart and perfectl ...more

I loved this book. I actually liked it because everyone was telling some lies and it took me a while to try and figure out what happened. With the hyperbaric chamber storyline, I actually learned a few things along this pleasurable journey as well!
