"...Becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end.”

I just can't say how much I loved this book. THE BEST BOOK I READ IN 2020 SO FAR. I've seen it everywhere but never thought I would be interested. I borrowed the book as an audio then started listening to it while doing the dishes, then Oh la la I'm definitely going love her.

In spite of reading Obama's autobiography 'Dreams from my father' , I realise, I know him more intimately through the eyes of his wife.
If I admired the man before, I'm now an avid fan. Michelle paints a very vivid picture of her personal growth, as a child in Chicago to her rise and rise from Princeton university.
Her successful law career, which she renounced for social causes and her eventual transformation to a political wife, left me spellbound.

Michelle tells her story with the earnestness and warmth that she displayed throughout her tenure as First Lady. She takes us on a journey through her childhood in working-class Chicago, her resilience as a talented law student among predominantly white and wealthy peers, and her fateful meeting with an easy-going Hawaiian lad at her law firm named Barack Obama. We share in Michelle's triumphs at the helm of community-changing non-profits, her fear for her husband as he waded into the lion's den

I'm not one to pay attention to politics and the surrounding drama. I know that good politician rarely gets heard but this book kind of open my eyes to the struggle they're facing. Also this cleared up, though I did not really care, what's true and false of the rumors and articles I accidentally bump into during President Obama. What touch me the most in this story though is their life before the whitehouse. It was touching and lovable family story.

This is probably one of the best memoirs I've read in my life! It deserves all the stars, all the awards, all the praise. This is an excellent book and deserves to be read by as many as possible.

I put off reading this book, because I had read so many excerpts that I thought that was sufficient. I also don't consider myself a "political person," and I thought this would be a book about politics. I was wrong on both accounts. The book was a well-written biography of a remarkable woman who has led a values-centered life. I was struck by how many ways her story and her milieu in Chicago have mirrored and intersected mine, even though there are many differences between us. Part of the charm

This is the first time I listened to a book fully with audio 🎧 and it was terrific. Michelle Obama is intelligent, determined, gracious, and humble. I found her entire story so interesting. She comes to a place where she realizes she can change course and make her own decisions with confidence. She does not let others discourage her from trying. Excellent.

Well written and everything you might want to know, sometimes too much, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only gripe would be her insistence on saying "me and Barack" or "me and X" instead of using correct grammar as she does in every other aspect of the book. Not sure the reasoning for that, but it grated on me. Most readers won't notice, I suppose.
