If I only had one word to use for this awesomely delicious adventure, it would be 'revelatory'. I've caught myself surprised numerous times in my reading, which, needless to say, is thoroughly wonderful and satisfying. I was already more than halfway in lustlove with Colin and I already held Minerva dear, dear to my heart in ANTS, but AWTBW elevated that love for them to new heights.

I laughed so much every time Colin made up some crazy-ridiculous story about his relationship with Minerva. Like any good lie, it gets bigger and bigger until it bites him in the tail (like the one where they pose as brother and sister missionaries to a family then Get. It. On. (loudly) after hearing another couple in the inn knocking boots, so to speak). Or how he introduces Min as his non-English speaking mistress (I'm with Min on that instance - would it have killed him to win that hand of ca ...more

I have a new Regency Romance favorite author. I thouroughly enjoyed this book. Most regencies published the past few years have been BOR-ING....they have the requesite ball scenes, the shopping, the 2.5 sex scenes, yada yada. Tessa Dare is different. Her stories are engaging and fun. I had almost given up reading this sub genre until I found her books a month ago. Her characters are interesting and her love stories are very powerful, not just fillers between explicit sex scenes. When the charact ...more

I really enjoyed this book and loved the interaction between Colin and Minerva. I was excited for their story after reading the first Spindle Cove book where they were introduced. Colin's wild tales made me laugh at points and I believe his proposal at the end was one of the best I ever read!

So why only 4 stars? As much as I loved this book, I admit I felt we got to a point where they had too many misadventures and I was disappointed with the end of the Francine story. I also missed Spindle Cove

The women of Spindle Cove are unconventional and outcasts from ton society. Most are there because of illness, a scandal, or some quirk that the mores of the time don't accept. Minerva is a geologist (horrors!) who comes to Spindle Cove because of a sickly sister and thrives. Finally, a place were she can wear spectacles, walk and read at the same time, research rocks to her hearts content! I bonded with Minerva, and related to her in a way rare for heroines(sans the fascination with rocks). She ...more

This was such a cute story. I love couples that have a fun banter going on. Minerva Highwood, the main character in the story is a smart girl that loves to read and explore rock formations than go to balls and dance. The Viscount Payne is, in Minerva Highwood's opinion, a pain in the ass. As well as an unfeeling rake. Minerva is worried that Colin will choose to marry her elder sister, the lovely Diana Highwood, who suffers acutely from asthma. Minerva doesn't think Colin has the goodness to be Diana's husband and tells him so, making a deal with him at the same time. She plans a fake engagement and a fake elopement, all to get Colin away from her sister as well as to make a scientific presentation at a conf ...more

Cute and fun!
At first i absolutely did not like Colin, might be because i did not like him in the other books, but he grew on me. It was awesome to see him change from a "jerk" to this caring person. I always like Minerva and loved reading her story. I wish she could have spoken at the symposium, but that would have wrapped it up a bit too neatly.

I really like how Tessa puts a bit at the end of her books on the history of the time and the research she did and how it is related to the story.
