Oh, Stephen King - you did it yet again and I think you really did good by The Shining with this one! I love this book (it can be read as a stand alone but those who haven't read the Shining might want to read it first)! I definitely recommend this one! ...more

amazing. I read this back to back with The Shining, which I hadn't read in at least 15 years. This book does not need to be read with its prequel, it is a fabulous stand alone read. there is a lot of truth that shines in these characters, and King's grasp of people - their flaws and their beauty - is so much fun to read. I also love his nods to pop culture and various other authors and books. I couldn't put this book down, and wanted it to last a lot longer.

Very good--I wish that I had gotten around to rereading The Shining before this one, but it was not necessary to enjoy it.
