Oh my Hunter :( His proverbial plate was really overwhelming just reading about it. I just got so pissed at everyone including his family and Calla. AND OH MY GOD CALLA I JUST WANT TO UGH. She was such a gigantic pain in the butt. I love the Elemental series and I started this book expecting to be surrounded by the hotness of the Merrick brothers and whatever problems Hunter had I didnt really care about about them but Brigid Kemmerer wasnt holding back this time!!! The moment I started I was bombarded with FEELS!!

The story kept me hooked! It was one roller-coaster ride! There were moments when I wanted to bash Hunter's head and shake some sense into him:

Hunter woke up with a gun pointed at him by Calla Ryan, a pyromaniac fire Elemental who caused multiple fire incidents in Spark. And after thrashing his house, Calla threatened him that if he doesn't call the other Guides she will cause more trouble and kill thousands of people. And with his problems with the Merricks and with his grandfather throwing him out of the house, Hunter doesn't have anyone else to run to.

On the otherhand, two other Guides were already in town and one of them will infiltrate the school. Having her very first assignment as a Guide trainee at such a young age, Kate Sullivan is trying to prove herself worthy of the mission and she's determined not to screw up.

If you have read my review of Storm, Spark and Fearless, you will see that Hunter is not my most favorite character in this series but he's slowly growing on me. And this book right here just made him climb up one spot, putting him at 4th place and outranking Chris(sorry Chris).

I finally understood Hunter a little bit better now. His indecisions and trust issues. He was costantly battling with himself, beating himself up about the things he can't control and blaming himself everything. He was overwhelmed by the responsibility of being a Fifth and continuing his father's mission. He was confused and scared and I just want to hug him and take him away from all his problems.

And I'm so, SO thankful to Michael for being such a life saver. He's such an awesome big brother and he cares for everyone. He gets where Hunter was coming from and doesn't judge him. He opened up his home without thinking twice. He gave Hunter his full trust and showed that he believes in him. And I super love him for that.

Gabriel, on the other hand, was really hurt with what Hunter did at the end of Spark. He found a confidant and a partner in crime with Hunter and he was the only one he thought was his real friend that's why he felt a little bit betrayed when he found out that he's working for Bill. He definitely showed how pissed he was with him but he can never get mad for long, especially when he knows Hunter needed help.

Nick, as always, was the understanding one. He might not agreed on Hunter living with them but he trust Michael's decision and he respects whatever he said. After all, he was always the nice guy among them. Chris was really paranoid in here. I don't what's gotten into him but his very possessive over Becca. He acts like Hunter would steal Becca from him. I mean, seriously dude, Becca chose you so can you please stop acting like jealous boyfriend because there's nothing to be jealous about.
If anyone would be the perfect match for Hunter, it would probably be Kate. She's like the girl version of Hunter (minus the tattooes and piercing, of course). I'm smiling everytime I read their text messages. I feel their chemistry oozing out from the book. Seriously, there's some intense attraction going on between them. And I'm sad with how it ended.

Anyway, Spirit has a lot more action than the first two book and it was more INTENSE! You have got to read not just this book but this series because it was amazing! A must-read book for all paranormal fans!

Hunter just can't get a break, can he? Another awesome book by Brigid! I totally love this series - cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. It was good to get to know Hunter in this book, however, it didn't quite end completely happy; it was good, but kind of sad in the end too. 5 complete stars. ...more
