I didn't think there was any way a book could follow Slammed and not be in its shadow, but this one did. Just when I thought it would be a typical romance with a misunderstanding, makeup, etc. the book has a huge event thrown in there that I just didn't see coming. I think I teared up every other chapter - not because of sad events, but because of touching events. Often times a follow up book in a series is lacking, especially when the first book is so damn phenomenal you can’t stop thinking about the story, the characters, the conflict/resolution, or stop stalking the author’s website or Facebook page. :) This was not the case for Point of Retreat. Point of Retreat is a wonderful continuation of Slammed. It picks up a few short months after Slammed ends and continues the beautiful story of Will and Lake. The difference this time is that it’s told from Will’s POV. I found this to be refreshing and welcome, as I loved getting into Will’s head this time around.
