This hilarious story begins through the perspective of Jadyn, a 4th grade tomboy, who is best friends with Phillip, the boy next door. Which is nice because he likes throwing a ball around and doing fun non-girly stuff. Although, not long after, a new boy named, Danny, who's mean and thinks football should only be played by boys...hummph!, moves in down the street. So not cool! It takes a couple of days, but Jadyn finally convinces Danny, GIRLS CAN PLAY FOOTBALL TOO and soon, she, Phillip and D ...more
11/18/2015 -- Reread this recently and enjoyed it once more. I agree with everything in my previous review. I probably wouldn't go to 5 Stars, more 4.5 Stars, but I don't modify ratings for a re-read. I tried to jump right into That Wedding, and lost interest for a bit. I've been in a bit of a book funk. You'll see. Either way, this is a good read; unique, original story .. if you stick to the end, and interesting characters.
Happy Reading!

Sooooo alas like the minority I too really, really tried to like this book but methinks I should've stuck to my original instincts and put. the. book. down. If I was to be diplomatic about it I'd just say it wasn't my cup of tea. But would that really be beneficial to anyone? Perhaps not, so to say a few things that are constructive I just couldn't connect to the story, its writing style and mainly to its heroine. It kind of came off like one big chattering, literary version of a Gilmore Girls e

I loved this book! This was the first book I've read by this author and I loved her writing style. It's so realistic. This book had a journal feel to me, written through the eyes of JJ. There's even little drawings and her hand written name in each "entry." You see JJ grow up from fourth grade all the way past college. She talks about special occasions and certain days that are important in her life. About 40% through the book you are hit with a boulder. It was huge and I was not expecting it. I

Last night I started reading "that boy", thinking this book was going to be some love triangle (even after reading the reviews that said it was not... I was skeptical). "that boy" is better then I ever expected, it is officially one of my favorite books! I cried so hard at one point that I had to grab tissues to get through it, but I also laughed and fell in love with JJ, Phillip and Danny. Turns out 2am comes around a lot faster when you have a book that you absolutely cannot put down, so I am

Cute read. It's written into mostly journal format and it has these really adorable little drawings at the top of most chapters. It was a quick, cute love story.
My only complaint is that the ebook is $7.99, seems like a little much. But, if that doesnt bother you then you should enjoy this one. ...more

2.5 stars. It could have been so much better! A cute story, but so much was missing for me. I will read "That Wedding" mainly because it was on sale this week and I purchased it.
