Warning: This is a dark themed erotic BDSM suspense thriller. For readers with triggers, this book does contain scenes of non-dub-con and extreme BDSM elements.

This is one of those times I don't think I can do justice to my actual thoughts about this read. The story starts with the author providing insight into Alex's life and it becomes very apparent to the reader what's happened and how that has affected her. I mean how DOES a girl live with herself when the man she had a teenage crush on lands up in prison because of her. That's gotta take an emotional and physical toll in some way...

The focus then shifts to Rafe. Eight years lost that he will never get back. Life has moved on but he hasn't. The author also showcases how that has affected him. The question starts to be whether I as the reader agree with Rafe's actual actions. Especially after knowing both sides of the story. This is where I stop as any further thoughts would reveal spoiler info and I like to keep to the nonspoiler code of conduct.

Switching to the adult content. This is a dark BDSM themed book, emphasis on the SM. It does push the envelope which is why I posted the cautionary warning. If, however, you are a fan of dark erotica and appreciate them such as I do, I HIGHLY suggest you check this one out.

One additional caution..... There is a MAJOR cliffhanger ending that really really really urked me. It is so not fair to a reader to end a story of this sort the way the author did. Especially when the next installment Rampant isn't due to come out until possibly October/2014. Some may feel this isn't an unreasonably long time to wait but believe me, when you get to the end of this read you are so gonna agree with me. So be warned but know this is a really good premised book but one star deduction for the cliffee.

This book is so graphic in it's detail. Alex is one tortured sole, who i so felt for. What a terrible life she finds herself in. A man who she loves desperately from her childhood through to adulthood, but abused by a sick family member. This abuse leads unfortunately to the man she desperately loves being imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.
Her suffering is then compounded by not just the lack of a developing relationship with her true love, but being left with her abuser, and on top if that her mother abandoning her when she finds out the truth..what a mother!

On her lovers release, her "true" love seeks revenge, kidnapping her, abusing her, in an effort to seek retribution and the truth as to why she lied.
The truth was just too much, to find out..(Raff).her true love thoughts were of a spoilt insolent teenage lie,( what he told himself) to the fact she's a terrified, abused victim at the hands of what he thought was his best friend..her brother!... But to compound that, he's now added to her abuse..her history. I felt sooo sorry for Alex. She's abused by everyone she loves. This abuse is bought out in graphic detail in this book, seeing the actions from both Alex the victim, how it affects her, to Raff the abuser and how he's been affected, his thoughts and how he feels.

The sex is strangely hot...but in a BDSM way with hints of how abuse has bought this relationship about.

Alex so needs love and support and someone to love her...and she feels that Raff is the man to accomplish this for her.

What a Cliff hanger...hence me dropping what I would like to be half a star!!!... Her brother who thought her dead has found her, my god, what will happen!. Her lover, who now sees his true love for her has been seriously injured and can't remember anything. This is so unfair, why leave us this way, this dilemma...I need the next book now !

I wavered on stars. I normally hate cliff hangers, but I think the fact that it wasn't wrapped up in a pretty little bow, was appropriate.

For once, the hype on this book didn't mislead me. Mainly because I ignored it a lot. I've been sucked in to many times, that this time around I scoffed at it. I'm really looking froward to the next installment. ...more
