Hovered around 3 to 3.5 stars but just managed to get that 4 because of the last 5-star worthy chapters, sustaining my eagerness to continue the series. There's a nice little twist and the sort of "showdown" at the end was good and deepened my curiosity about the main villain. That said, there were many chapters that felt filler-like and the ideas are not quite as ambitious as in the first book. Character development is a weak point.
