I'm just not interested and I have so many nitpicky issues about how the royalty isn't working. Like, none of it makes sense from why they still have one to where are the queen's guards? I swear I forget she's a queen because she doesn't act like one nor does anyone else treat her like one (expect sarcastically). ...more

3.5 stars? While I was fascinated by the world I had some real issues with it too. How are there never any guards or anything with the young Queen? She seems to be able to come and go as she pleases far too easily and doesn't act like a Queen a lot of the time.
I liked the Chinese inspired world but wanted more from it and how it worked. I also had a hard time getting connected to the characters. The plot had moments of greatness but also times where it struggled to progress forward.

3*3.5? This doesn't end like a stand alone. It ends like there should at least be a duology. This books goes from worst to worst to; wow yes it got even worse. It's pretty horrible. All the death and all the hurt and lies.
