This book was spellbinding. It starts with a research ship funded by a media company, the Melusine, headed to the Marianas Trench to settle once and for all what happened to it’s predecessor, sent out seven years ago only to be found with no survivors and footage of what appear to be mermaids slaughtering it’s crew. Horror mermaids mixed with science. What's not to like? Plus there are all types of characters from all walks of life and they are described rather vividly.
At times there was more science than I necessarily needed to read but I appreciated how much research must have gone into writing this story.
I don't really have words to describe this story. Its creepy in its way and interesting. What could be living in the Mariana's Trench? Also it is strange that mermaids are given the same basic descript ...more

Very entertaining book with lots of suspense! I really enjoy aquatic horror books. But I do think the relationships weren't that interesting between the characters, I liked this more as a pure action packed book. The pacing was pretty good, there were some points I found a bit boring.
