Ah, this was a wonderful book. If I picked just one book for the whole year this little book would have fit the bill just perfectly. The story with a middle school aged boy with a facial deformity as its main character just rang true in every respect. It's difficult enough to have to BE in middle school let alone in a way that makes you just stand out so horribly, but that's August Pullman. And he does it with struggles and heart ache enough for me to be filled with absolute compassion for this
