The Boy Under the Table is set in Australia, both urban and rural and is a great read. Again, there is some dark subject matter which some readers could find distressing (child abuse) so be warned. If you like Jodie Picoult and Caroline Overington (love her work and she is lovely in person too, I met her last year) you will probably like this one.
