I would have loved the book a lot more, but the ending felt like a cligghanger that was to set up for the next book in the series as setting the stage. Because of that, the book was very predictable, but well written, making me wanting to read the rest of the trilogy.
I liked it enough to want to know what happens in the next book. But I'm not overly keen to read it ASAP. This book could have been incredible (I mean, it's magic. Great authors can do great things with MAGIC!) but it lacks a lot of action and suspense in most parts and I lost interest in Sonea after a while. Here's hoping the second book will be better.

I really enjoyed this book. The main character Sonea is a strong underdog/outsider character and easy to relate to and like.
