The idea of it is quite creepy actually. So this spirit that has no true physical form has been watching you since birth, has stalked you basically through the very people you know and love, and now that you are of age, recruits you into his band of devoted blind followers and then can pop into your head at literally anytime to bed you? Really Auraya? Is this not at all creepy? Even if it wasn't, ever heard of stranger danger?!

Besides that illogicality, throughout the book I find myself internally screaming at the logic of the Whites. Hello? Why has no one even drawn the inkling that the 5 Circlian gods and 5 Pentadrian gods are actually the same 5 gods? Is there literally no one in the book with even a brief clue that there could be the possibility that they are the same beings? Sigh. I guess that would make out to be a very brief story if it did.

In the overall, this book was a captivating read. It's significantly more interesting than Priestess of the White, with a greater focus on Mirar and Emerahl, who we all know are the true heroes of the novel. They are survivors. They are compassionate. They are healers. They are Dreamweavers. The best chapters were those that involved Mirar, Leiahrd and Emerahl. The 3 way conversations were gloriously well-humoured; and it was a pity (view spoiler)

I unfortunately paid very little attention to Reivan, the Pentadrians, and clueless and careless Princess Imi of Elai who I can perfectly imagine as a naive and presumptuous 12 year old who is in over her head because she was raised as a spoiled rich kid.

On another note, I missed Tryss and Drilli. We spent so much time with the Siyee but we did not even get a glimpse of how they are now. ...more
