So annoyed at the person who told me years ago not to bother with this "autobiography" because it wasn't factual. Clearly they missed the words "A NOVEL" right beneath the title.
This was an amazing sprawling escape of a novel. I will never forget Prabaker or Kano the bear. If there's any other author who could conjure up so many fully realised and memorable characters I would love to read their work. Hurry up Johnny Depp and make this into a movie. ...more

This book was a bit frustrating to read because of publishing errors. There were blank pages, wrong pages and doubly printed pages.
Aside from that thouggh it was an engrossing book, the more so because I was in India while reading it. It captured the detail of India and the events in it were fascinating.
It was well written with very funny as well as poignant moments and an enthralling narrator.
A great read.
