I loved this story so much. I loved the twist that I did see coming after awhile but that didn't deter me from loving it.
An orphan boy named Sage and two others are solicited for the task of becoming the "False Prince" and they go through training and, in my opinion, brutality and demeaning treatment from Connor.
The real Prince Jaron was on board a pirate ship when it was attacked and went down, but Jaron's body was never found. So the question is whether or not he is really dead, which everyon ...more

I am somewhat surprised by the overwhelmingly stellar reviews for this book. While I liked it, I doubt I will pick up the next book in the series. I did enjoy Sage's character, and as some other reviewers pointed out, it was refreshing to read from a male's point of view as written by a female author. I was excited about the plot and quick progression...in the beginning. The story plateaued and never seemed to escalate until the very end. The "twist" had me almost rolling my eyes, but I did enjo
